Obituary of Anthony G. Simmons

Simmons, Anthony G. "Tony" of Woodbury, NJ, died suddenly on February 24, 2005. Aged 38 years. Tony was a graduate of John Hopkins University Peabody Institute. He was a member of the Serafin String Quartet and the new-music ensemble Relache. Tony taught viola and violin at Settlement Music School in Phila., PA and Wilmington Music School in Wilmington, DE. In addition, he also was a member of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Northeastern Philharmonic Orchestra and Ocean City Pops. Tony recorded with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In his spare time, Tony enjoyed traveling, cooking and playing video games. His greatest enjoyment was spending time at home with his wife, Marka. He will be remembered as a gentle, genuine, and honest man, who was a wonderful friend to many people. Wonderful husband of Marka Kasker-Simmons. Devoted son of Carl and step-son of Billie Simmons. Dear brother of Tracy Garrett Roger. Loving uncle of Heather , Casey and Fuzzy Garrett. Dear son-in-law of Kathryn Ellis. Brother-in-law of Kathy Ellis. Also survived by special friends to Tony and Marka, John Safian and Jeff Uhlig, as well as the members of the Serafin String Quartet, Kate Ransom, Luigi Mazzocchi and Carrie Ellman, and Tony's students who were so special to him. He will also be missed by his six cats:Penny, Petey, Jack, Elvis, Cleo and Spice. Memorial Service Wed. 11AM in First Central Presbyterian Church, 1101 Market St., Rodney Square, Wilmington, DE 19801.
