My heart goes out to Stan's family and friends. He will be missed by many. I had the opportunity to have Stan work for me while he was in Biomedical Engineering at the VA. And no, it wasn't all just typewriters! No matter what task I asked Stan to do, he did it with a smile. I can't remember ever hearing him complain. After he left Biomed I would see him from time to time in the hallway or sitting on a bench outside and he always was there with a smile. I was usually rushing to get somewhere and only had time for a "hi," but sometimes I had a few minutes to chat. I was fortunate that one of those times was the morning he passed. He was telling a funny story from years ago and was thoroughly enjoying telling the tale. It's comforting to know he enjoyed his time at the VA and was laughing and smiling to the end.

I have had the pleasure of working in the same facility as Stan for the past 5 years at the Phila VA Medical Center. My friend & coworker Frank Pezzotta introduced us when I first started at PVAMC. We had lunch together many times and always had a lot of fun and laughs with Stan. Stan always had big smiles and lots of humor to share with us. My heartfelt condolences go out to Itha, Stan's children, grandchildren and the rest of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by us all.

Your Dad's passing came as a total shock. We had lunch together several month's ago and he looked terrific. He was a wonderful person an a good friend of mine for 45 years. I will miss him dearly as I know you will. I know that this will be a difficult time for each of you so please remain strong and cherish the fine memories that you had with Dad.
Ita, my sincere condolences to you too. I know that this unexpecteed loss has caused you equal grief also. Please remain strong and always keep Stan close to you in your heart

Not to many things in this world bring tears to my eyes, the passing of Stan did just that as I learned of his passing. I had the pleasure of working with Stan for a number of years the the VAMC. I enjoyed his company not only in work but on a social level as well. He was one of my most unforgetable characters, one that I've thought of on a number of occasions over the years. He raised some beautiful children and it was an honor to meet his children and watch them grow. He loved them and the rest of his family with all his heart. He enjoyed life so much that he brought happiness to those around him. There were never any down days with Stan, he always brought the sunshine with him. God bless him, I know he'll bring a new sense of joy to those that have gone before him and have greeted him in the after life. To his children, God Bless you. You're all beautiful and a large part of that beauty comes from the way Stan helped raised you. I have to give thanks to Stan for entering my life, I will truly miss him.

I will miss Stan so very much. He was my very good friend and co-worker. He counted on me many times for all his pc. and internet help, and I counted on him for his positive attitude and great sence of humor these past 17 years.

Stanley, Kim & Heather:
I cannot begin to tell you how much I will miss your father and how much I have missed him and all of you over the years we have been out of touch. My family would not have been the same had we not had the pleasure of knowing your dad, mom and you kids. Remember all those crabbing trips? As dear a friend as your dad was to mine, I would never have been able to thank your dad enough for being that pillar my dad needed when he needed a friend so many years ago. I will never forgot your father and the wonderful legacy he and your mother left behind in all of you. May God Bless Stan McCann and may you all keep him in your hearts - no matter how many years pass.

Stan was my friend and co worker and I loved him and Itha both.
He loved his co workers and his family very much. I am happy that I gave Stan his "flowers" while he was still alive.
Your Smile
Dedicated to Stan "The Man" McCann
Sometimes life is like a mirror
What we give we receive
And the love he's shown his co workers
From their minds will never leave
Ups and downs we know he's had a few
But that never dimmed his smile
And that smile that he shared with us daily
In our spirit will remain
Yes his smile was like a rainbow
But he never let it fade
Never fade
In his heart no room for bias
Only caring in that smile he gave
Now that he's gone
We will mention often
How he sometimes made our day
With that smile
He shared with us daily
And in our spirit it will remain
Sometimes life is like a mirror
What YOU give YOU receive
WE receive
And the love that YOU show to others
From their minds never leaves
Now Stan is gone
But we will mention often
How he always made our day
With that smile
That he shared with us daily
And in our spirit it will remain
In my mind
Is his smile
In my heart
Is his smile.
Lovingly submitted in memory of my friend.

I went to grade school with Kim and saw Mr. McCann's obituary in the paper this morning. I wanted to send my condolences to you and your brother and sister. I remember the sleepover in the beauty shop and staying for dinner when your mom and dad were having taco's, they were my first. Kim- I've actually been thinking about you recently and wondering how you were. Again, my sincerest sympathy for your father and I hope to get in touch with you again. Kristin
