Yvonne Biñas

Obituary of Yvonne Gaac Biñas

Yvonne Gaac Biñas of Woodbury returned to Our Lord on January 24th, 2024 at the age of 70.

Born to the late Blas, Sr. and Corazón (née Cerezo) Gaac on December 6th, 1953 in the Philippines, Yvonne is the beloved eldest sister to her brother, Blas, Jr. and her late sister, Julieta, who sadly passed away as a toddler.

Originally from the Philippines, Yvonne graduated from The University of Santo Tomás (UST) in Manila, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. A few years after graduation, Yvonne immigrated to the United States, petitioned by Atlantic City Medical Center, in 1977. While working in Atlantic City, she met her future spouse, Herman Biñas, through mutual friends. Herman quickly became Yvonne's rock, being someone upon whom she could consistently depend without fail. Yvonne admired Herman's strength and compassion, and was especially endeared by his unflagging ability to stay true to his word. The two married on June 14, 1979 and over the next several years, grew their family by having two children, Beverly and Sherman. Yvonne dedicated herself to working hard for her family and raising her children to be respectful and empathetic, just as she was.

Yvonne devoted herself to the Lord as a devout parishioner of Holy Angels Parish; St. Patrick's Church for nearly 50 years. She was a firm believer in the power of prayer and spent her time attending mass as regularly as she could, donating to several Catholic missions around the world, and encouraging those around her to stengthen their faith through prayer. She was an avid gardener, especially fond of all flowers, as showcased in her loving attention to her celosia, orchids, and azaleas, just to name a few. She was also an amateur musician who genuinely enjoyed playing the piano and guitar for friends and family. Over the years, Yvonne touched the lives of many and she will continue to live on in the memories of those closest to her.

Yvonne will be remembered as a loving, supportive mother by her children, Sherman and Beverly, as well as a devoted grandma to her grandson, Alexander.
