Obituary of Chester Ronald Hoffman

Chester Ronald "Ron" Hoffman, 94, of Oak Valley, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Legacy

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Ron was a resident of Oak Valley since 1960. A caring man, Ron always put others needs before his own. We all remember with a smile his pride in being left-handed and a phenomenal bowler. He grew up as a middle child with two brothers: Kenneth and Allyn. After high school, Ron and a friend travelled to the Midwest to help with the wheat harvest. After that he served in the Navy for 25 years, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer (ABCM). His naval career took him up and down the east coast, to Rota, Spain, and on a round-the-world maiden voyage on the U.S.S. Enterprise. After retiring from the Navy, he worked many years and many long hours during holidays at Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist in Mantua, NJ. Ron’s love for travel continued and his family spent many weekends and vacations camping in their trailer. He was a past president and long-term member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 57. An avid reader, he was a regular at the Deptford Library where the ladies always took good care of him by holding the latest spy thriller books for him. He spent many years in various bowling leagues in South Jersey and continued to bowl until his final days. He was most proud of his high score of 299.
