May has been a dedicated member of Saint Margaret's Church for over 50 years. She made many friends through the church, and within her community, such as the "Vanderbilt Crew".

May was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Uhlein, and is remembered by her siblings Thomas (Phyllis) Uhlein and Joan (Jack) McCormick. She is the loving mother to Christine (Rocco) Grady, Matthew (Laura) Jacob, Denise Iadanza, and Nancy Ogbin.
