Obituary of Sidney Anne Hughes

Sidney Anne Hughes (nee Walton), 84, of Gloucester City, New Jersey, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

Legacy

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She married her high school sweetheart “Jack.” They had four children and shared 66 years of marriage. Sidney was a very creative and independent woman.  One of her favorite jobs was as a store detective at Strawbridge & Clothier, she was also a dental assistant, a hostess, and first and foremost a wonderful mother. She was an avid golfer, bowler, and loved spending time in the sun at the beach and the lake.  

Family

She is the beloved wife of 66 years to John “Jack” L. Hughes Jr. Devoted mother to Hope (late Steven) Poole, Jonathan (Marian) Hughes, Jennifer (Stephen) Ravelli, and the late Blake Leslie. Adored grandmother of Isaiah, Rebecka (Jacob), Jonathan (Maggie), Jackson, Timothy, and Harris. Treasured great grandmother of Olivia Iris. Predeceased by her parents Anna and Roy Walton and her brothers William and Harry. She will be missed by family and friends.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, November 4th from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Brooklawn United Methodist Church 213 Maude Avenue, Brooklawn, NJ 08030. Funeral Service at 12:00PM. Interment will be private.
