Obituary of Gayle Rowan Erickson

Gayle Claire Rowan-Erickson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023. She was 73 years old. She was born on June 17, 1950 in Woodbury, NJ. She graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School (1968) and then Pierce Business College (1972). After college, Gayle began a career with Thomas Jefferson University & Medical Center in Philadelphia. Over her 30 year career, Gayle advanced to the Senior Administrative Assistant to the President of Thomas Jefferson University.

She married Edmund ‘Barry’ Erickson (deceased) in October 11th, 2002. They loved Disney and to go on cruises. They visited many of the famous cities in the U.S. and Europe, as well as excursions to South America. They truly loved spending time together, be it in travel, or going to art auctions or just a day at the spa.

Gayle highly valued family, and always maintained close relationships. She will be remembered for being very generous on special occasions and on the holidays. Somehow, she always knew how to pick the perfect gift for her loved ones! Gayle was loving, industrious, empathetic, witty, and understanding.

Gayle is survived by her step-children: Edmund Erickson (Patti) and Desiree Brennan (Jim). Loving sister of Jack Rowan (Sara). She leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews: Michael Rowan (Kate), Mary Rowan, Melinda Shopa (Scott) and Valerie George (Jeff) as well as her thirteen grand-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 9 AM to 11 AM.  Funeral Mass will follow at 12 PM at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Road, Turnersville, NJ 08012.
