Obituary of Gene R. Gurlin, Sr.

Gene R. Gurlin "Reds" of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023.  He was 64.
 
Legacy
Reds was raised in Paulsboro, N.J., and graduated from Paulsboro High School, class of 1977.  He moved to Woodbury, NJ in 1995 with his family.   He worked as a forklift operator for most of his life.  Everywhere Reds went, he ended up running into someone he knew, most likely, as he had the gift of gab and could pretty much talk to anyone about anything.  
Reds loved football and more importantly, loved rubbing the Patriots winning season into his son's face every chance he could.  
Gene enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was just relaxing on the porch or at a park where he would often be seen feeding wildlife.  He loved so many things, like fishing, working on cars and sharing his knowledge with his sons and grandsons, and he was a lifelong wrestling fan.
He had a special knack for bartering, and would often brag about how he traded his "Way up" from a football jersey, to eventually a boat!  He sure did love an Ice-Cold Beer!! Above all else, Gene loved his family.  He had such a large presence that reached far into his extended family.  He would take the time to help anyone, be it a friend or a stranger without asking for anything in return.  He was just that kind of guy, that anyone would want as a neighbor, friend, or family member.

He is the beloved husband of 29 years, and together for 45 years, to Brenda Gurlin (nee: Smith); loving father of Gene R. Gurlin, Jr. (Jennifer), Rebecca Gurlin, and Daniel Gurlin (Deeann);  best grandfather to  Skyler, Eternity, Joshua, Hannah, Kirsten, Nicholas, Alexander, Mia and Daniel Jr.; loving brother to Vivian Williams, Joy Pidgeon, Neil Gurlin (Blanche) & Kenny Gurlin and the late Thomas Gurlin & Raymond Gurlin (Linda); son of the late Samuel N. Gurlin & Agnes (nee: Martin).
 
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gene's visitation at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096,  on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM.  Funeral Service will begin at 12 PM.
