Lucille D'Auria

Obituary of Lucille R. D'Auria

A professional cake decorator and retired accountant controller, Lucille D’Auria’s life didn’t come to end with her death. Lucille passed away on February 9, 2022 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with a rare blood cancer after a 21 year period. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her pleasant personality and smiling eyes were contagious to everyone she met. She was born to Eusebio and Assunta Apostol on May 18, 1946. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, her family moved to Williamstown, N.J. when she was 12 years-old to experience life on a chicken farm. Later, she lived with her husband and daughter in Woolwich Township, N.J.

After attending Temple University, she worked more than 40 years as an accountant controller for major retailers, manufacturers, and food distributors.

Lucille loved spending time in the kitchen since she had a passion for baking. There wasn’t a piece of chocolate that she didn’t enjoy. She was a cake decorating instructor for both Wilton and adult evening programs at local high schools. During Christmas, she eagerly shared her talents and gave freely of her time and resources to teaching children the art of gingerbread house creation. During Easter, she created decorative panoramic sugar Easter Eggs, which could be purchased in several South Jersey candy stores. Lucille was a giving person who made elaborate cakes bringing joy to both children and adults on birthdays, weddings and many other holidays including Easter and Halloween.

Lucille was not only a creative talent in the kitchen but also had a passion for playing the violin. She continually challenged herself to learn one of the most difficult instruments to master. Additionally, her artistic talents branched into painting where she specialized in murals.

She was predeceased by her 4-year-old son Paul, and her parents, Eusebio and Assunta Apostol. She’s survived by her beloved husband, Bob, her beloved daughter, Jaclyn, son-in-law Craig, her precious grandchildren, beautiful princess Jordana and Zach; her beloved brother Eugene Apostol and his partner Jack Zarko; her brother-in-law Albert D’Auria and his wife, Gloria, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
