Obituary of Joseph S. Martino, Sr.

Joseph S. Martino, Sr., 76, of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021.

Legacy

Born in Elwood, New Jersey, Joe was a graduate of Oak Crest High School. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1966 - 1969. A resident of Woodbury Heights since 1974, Joe was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights. Prior to retiring 20 years ago, Joe was a District Manager for the Xerox Corporation. Even after retiring, Joe kept himself busy as a house painter and helping with odd jobs. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything and would help anyone.

A loving gentleman, Joe was devoted to his family. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he was very active in their daily lives whether it be to chauffeur them around or to attend one of their activities. Many special memories that will surely bring smiles to his loved one have been made during their family vacations and special breakfasts prepared by Joe’s loving hands. With his genuine love for everyone, Joe was able to hold conversation with anyone and made them feel like he had known them for years. Joe’s love and compassion was not only shared with his family, but many of his children, Jennifer and Joe’s friends, who he mentored and was a father figure to. His carefree nature let Joe live life the way he wanted and lived it to the fullest.

Joe was a blueberry farmer in his younger years, loved classic cars and reading historic books. Tailgate parties for the Eagles will never be the same and someone will have to fill Joe’s shoes in keeping up his homemade wine. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, dear friends and his yellow lab, Sophie.

Beloved husband of 51 years to Carol A. (nee Albert); devoted father of Jennifer Martino (John Gross) and Joseph Martino, Jr. (Michelle); loving Pop of Grayce, Riley, Joey III and Gianna; dear brother of Carmen Martino and the late Frank and Jeanie.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe's viewing on Tuesday evening, November 9, 2021, 6:30 - 9:00 PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ and Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 10 - 10:45 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights where the Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment and Military Honors at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Sewell, New Jersey.
