Obituary of James J. Mahoney

James Joseph Mahoney, Jr., 87, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, surrounded by his family. James was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corp. He was a very proud Marine and loved serving his country.

Legacy

During his employment career, James worked in the industrial construction industry as a procurement and contracts administrator. His employment took him all over the United States and as far away as Saudi Arabia. James loved to travel and visited many countries with his wife.

James was an avid reader with a passion for writing. Early on in his life he wrote several children’s books and at the age of 84 he penned his first novel with his second shortly to follow. At the time of his death, he was halfway through his third novel.

Family

James was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, son, James J. Mahoney III. He was the dearly loved father of daughter, Kathleen M. Kelley, sons, John L. Mahoney, Jeffrey A. Mahoney (Kimberly), loving grandfather to Jennifer N. Pinson (Patrick), Rachael M. Pinson and Allison B. Cox (Scott), Ashlyn B. Mahoney and Krista J. Mahoney, special great-grandfather to Michael Xander Barajas, James Patrick Fenn and Merritt Reeves Cox.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 9:30 am until 10:30 am in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ 08096. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Woodbury, NJ, followed by interment at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
