Obituary of Leonard V. Fox

Leonard V. Fox, 73, of Pine Valley, NJ on January 3, 2003. Beloved husband of the late Jean nee Leo. Devoted father of Sandra Cusick & her husband, Ronald; Leonard, Jr. & his wife, Maureen; and Stephen & his wife, Jolinda. Proud grandfather of Ronald, Jr., Brad & Doug Cusick; Elizabeth; Len 3rd, Abigail, John, Lillian, Tristan & Jillian Fox. Nephew of Nick Ketschek and brother-in-law of Henry Hesselbacher. Mr. Fox was born in Pleasantville, NJ to Clyde and Anna Fox. . Growing up he distinguished himself as an athlete; he was the captain of the baseball and basketball teams of Pleasantville High. His baseball attracted the attention of Lafayette College where he received one of their first baseball scholarships. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and graduated with an economics degree. He was drafted by the St. Louis Browns now the Baltimore Orioles, but asthma curtailed his professional career. After baseball, he went to work for RCA as a financial analyst. He rose to become Vice-President of Finance, Government Systems Division. In this position, he was actively involved in the space program, from satellites to the moon. He was particularly proud of a camera that RCA developed which took the first photographs of the moon. He received an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1977. After his retirement he became active in numerous charitable organizations, most notably as a trustee for the West Jersey Health System. Len was a single digit golfer his entire life. While playing with his father at Brookside CC in Macungie, PA, both Len and his father double-eagled the same hole. In the 1980s, he teamed with his son Len, Jr. to win the Bright Tournament at Wildwood CC 3 consecutive years. He served as president of Tavistock Country Club and was a commissioner for the Borough of Pine Valley. Len will always be remembered for his love of family and his commitment to excellence in all facets of life.
