Obituary of John Andrews

Andrews, John T. of Washington Twp., NJ formerly of Pennsauken passed away after a lengthy illness On April 27, 2003 at the age of 88 years. Born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ on April 11, 1915, Mr. Andrews lived in Pennsauken for 48 years before moving to Cardinal Village , Washington Twp., in May 2000. Prior to retirement in 1973, he was employed by the Sun Oil company, where he worked in the Marine Department for 28 years, as a ship's officer. Mr. Andrews held a Masters license for large vessels. During World War II, John served in the US Merchant Marine, conducting convoys across the Atlantic from 1941 through 1945. Mr. Andrews was an avid amateur photographer and held past memberships in both the Philadelphia Photographic Group and the South Jersey Photography Club. A highlight of his retirement years was a photographic and hiking trip to Bryce Canyon at the age of 77. Mr. Andrews also enjoyed golf and was a past member of the Merchantville Country Club. John is also a member of the Merchantville Masonic Lodge F&AM 119. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marion J. nee Lewis his loving daughter, Harriet Andrews Hart, his son John D. Andrews, his daughter-in-law Claire and two grandsons, David and Christopher Andrews. Mr. Andrews is also survived by a niece, Louise Pruyne of Hartford, CT Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
