Obituary of Bennie Rose Heath

HEATH? Bennie Rosenee James of Deptford on Aug. 6, 2003. Aged 71 years. Born in Charlotte, NC, Bennie lived in Philadelphia for many years before moving to Deptford in 1954. She was a graduate of Girl?s High School, Phila and received her Associates Degree from Gloucester County College. Prior to retirement in 1990, Bennie worked as a school bus driver for Deptford Twp. for 23 years, prior to that she worked as a biller for Sears & Roebuck, Phila. For 18 years. Bennie was a honorary life member of the National PTA and also served as NJ State Vice President. She was a member of the Colored Women?s Federation, Deptford, volunteered her time to complete taxes for seniors, organized the book fair at Shady Lane School and coordinated the Deptford Head Start Program. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, playing cards, crossword puzzles and board games. She is the beloved wife of 22 years to Ulysses, devoted mother of Jacob Davis, Jr.Deborah, Beatrice Davis, Benita Pratt, The late Joi Walker Robert, Scott Davis Lisa, Sr., Jill Johnson Harold, Tina Davis-Abbott the late Tony, Mary Kennedy Thomas, Shawnette Davis, Perry Cheryl, Rodney Augustine & Gary Heath Sharonand Gloria Jean Wilson, loving grandmother of 30 and great grandmother of 21. Dear sister of Mozell Jones & the late Walter S. James, Sr. and the late Lois James. Sister in law of Minnie Jones and the late Nancy James. A host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. Funeral services Mon. 11 AM in the North Baptist Church, 1020 N. Evergreen Ave., Woodbury where friends may call after 9 AM. Interment will follow services.
