Obituary of Alfred L. Hetrick

Hetrick, Alfred L. Age 75 found rest with his creator on November 21, 2003 after a long illness. Al was a resident of Woodbury, NJ for 33 years with former homes in Somerdale, NJ and Northeast Philadelphia. Al Graduated from Northeast High School in the Class of 1945. He served in the Unied States Navy on the Destroyer Escort USS Darby. After his enlistment, he entered the reserves in 1947. Al worked for General Electric as a stator winder for train motors of the Pennsylvania Railroad and for Middle Department Association of Fire Underwriters as a building inspector before beginning his 38 year career with Philadelphia Electric Company. He retired as Senior Employment Counselor in 1988. Al attended night school at LaSalle College and graduated with a BS in Business Administartion in 1954. His marriage to Dorothy Purland gave him a son, Frederick John Hetrick and a daughter, Victoria Dorothy Zych. Through his second marriage to Adelaide Schneck Ferguson, he became step-father to Carol Gloeckner and William Ferguson. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Al was a faithful member of St. Stephen?s Lutheran Church, having served on church council and on the property committee and as an usher. He earned a Life Scout rank as a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop # 52 of Germantown; was a member of the Germantown YMCA; a life member of Masonic Progress Lodge #609 now merged with Joseph H. Brown Lodge #751; served as president of South Jersey Chapter Single Parents Society; Washington Twp. Script Teasers property committee; Lewis Shearer Chorale property committee; and Destroyer Escort Sailor Association Garden State Chapter. He was a former District Director of the Greater Woodbury Area Exchange Club; communicator for Lutheran Brotherhood Hollybush Ranch #8976; WORC; Main Street; Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce; Gloucester County Historical Society; and Friend of the Woodbury Public Library. Al?s creative and artistic skills included woodworking, model building, toy making, oil painting and origami. Friends may call at the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury on Tuesday from 6:30 to 9 PM and at St. Stephen?s Lutheran Church, 230 N. Evergreen Avenue on Wednesday from 9 to 10 AM. Funeral Services will be held in the church on Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
