Obituary of Melvin L. Robertson

Robertson, Melvin L. ?Rebel? on December 8, 2003, of New Gretna, NJ formerly of Woodbury Heights, NJ. Age 79 years. Mr. Robertson was born in Raised in Tad, West Virginia. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mr. Robertson, at the age of 17, immediately enlisted in the Marine Corp. As a member of the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Battalion, 5th Regimen he courageously served in seven major campaigns, including Guadalcanal, Pellilu and New Britain. After the war he worked as a coal miner before moving to Woodbury Heights, NJ where he and his father-in-law started Wenzel & Robertson. This evolved into Robertson Construction Company, which he owned and operated for 40 years. Mr. Robertson was a licensed Master Electrician, Master Plumber and was an associate member of Local 825 of the Operation Engineers Union. An avid fisherman, Mr. Robertson for may years maintained a second home on Bass River in New Gretna. Three years ago, Mr. Robertson moved to his New Gretna residence on a full-time basis. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Gretna. Mr. Robertson is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn Nee Wenzel; his daughter, Barbara A. Rauscher and her husband, Charles; his son, Melvin W. Robertson and his wife , Andrea; his three grandchildren, Courtney, Kyle and Katelyn. He is, also survived by two brothers, Arnold D. Robertson of Woodbury, NJ and William M. Robertson of Clarkesville, TN. Viewing Saturday 9:30 to 11AM in the MCGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME 34 HUNTER ST. WOODBURY. Lifetime Tribute 11AM.
