Obituary of Mary N. Johnson

Johnson, Mary N. nee Newcomb age 79, passed away September 24, 2004. The daughter of a farmer and one of nine children, Mary graduated from Nursing school and began her career on the Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. Her lifelong pursuit of helping others continued as she became a nurse at the Underwood Memorial Hospital, Woodbury, later working for Dr. James G. Kehler in private practice. After receiving an advanced degree, Mary worked as a Registered Nurse for Gloucester County, specializing in tuberculosis treatment and control. Her nursing career culminated with 18 years in the State Health Dept heading the Respiratory Disease Control Unit for Southern New Jersey. Mary will be remembered by all for her warmth and dedication to serving others. Beloved wife of Walter P. Johnson of 58 years. Devoted mother of Eric & Wayne and adored grandmother of Bryce.
