Obituary of Joseph Calabro

CALABRO, Joseph, Sr. of Oak Valley, NJ, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, on April 8, 2005. Aged 80 years. Born in Johnstown, PA, Mr. Calabro was raised in Philadelphia, PA, before moving to the Oak Valley section of Deptford, NJ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. During his military service, he was a member of Gen. Paton's Third Army as a telecommunications technician installing telephone equipment. Before retiring in 1985, Mr. Calabro was a cook for the Campbell's Soup Company in Camden, NJ. In his spare time, he enjoyed gambling, especially horse racing and craps, and was an avid sports fan. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He will be remembered as "funny with a heart of gold". Beloved husband for 41 years of the late Rose Nee Ochiuto. Devoted father of Joseph Calabro, Jr. of Oak Valley, NJ, and Lorraine Miraflor Ronald of Turnersville, NJ. Loving grandfather of Jason LenziJennifer and Desiree Lenzi and great grandfather of Jordyn Ashley Lenzi. Dear brother of Mary DiGiacomo, Dominic Calabro and the late Samuel Calabro. Loving companion for 14 years of Dorothy Gordon. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Viewing Tuesday 6:30 to 9 P.M. and Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 573 Egg Harbor Rd. Washington Twp., Sewell, NJ. Funeral Service Wednesday 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
