Obituary of Alvin M. Burk

Burk, Alvin M., 94, of Collingswood on June 25, 2005. Husband of the late Ann nee Sutkus and Isabelle nee Lapp. Father of Christine Brett of Absecon, NJ and Patricia Schmidt of San Diego, CA. Grandfather of 5. Greatgrandfather of 7. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Burk was born in Luzerne, PA. He served in the United States Navy during the 1930s. He was a man of accomplishment. During the war years, he worked as a pipefitter in the New York Shipyard. He later worked as a salesman for Best Foods in Philadelphia and he retired from the Camden Trust. Mr. Burk was a self taught musician. He played the bass, fiddle, violin and saxophone. He was one of the founders of the Al-Jay Trio who performed for years at the Sail Inn in Williamstown. He also volunteered for the US Coast Guard where he taught safe boating practices. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Thursday in the Church of the Transfiguration 445 White Horse Pike West Collingswood. A viewing will begin at 10:00 AM.
