Obituary of Isabel K. Marple

Marple, Isabel K. nee Kress of Thorofare, peacefully on September 11, 2005 surrounded by her loving family. Aged 85 years. Born in Walkers Mills, PA, Isabel was raised in Pitman, New Jersey and later moved to Thorofare where she has made her home ever since. She was a graduate of Glassboro State College, Class of 1942 with a BS in Education. Isabel then became a teacher and Principal for the West Deptford School District until 1952 when she and her husband, Jack began their family. From 1950 on, Isabel devoted her time to her family and their business, where she served as Secretary Treasure for Marple Bros. Tile, Inc., Jack Marple & Son?s and Meadow Lake Farms. In 1975 Isabel took a job with Sears & Roebuck in the Deptford Mall in the candy department and remained there for 14 years and was known to many as the ?Candy Lady?. In her spare time, Isabel involved herself in various community and church groups including, the Wenonah Quilter?s. She also won several sewing awards for her handiworks at the Mullica Hill Grange. She belonged to the Gloucester County 4-H Club, West Deptford Library at which she was a charter member and the ?Paulettes? at St. Paul?s Methodist Church where she held the office of secretary. Isabel also had a deep love for her family and home where she thoroughly enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking especially her homemade cinnamon buns, bird watching at her kitchen window, canning her own vegetables, making her own homemade iced tea and ballroom dancing with Jack. Isabel?s legacy will be that she was a very loving, selfless, positive woman who will be truly missed by her family and those who knew her. She is the beloved wife of Jack Marple. Devoted mother of John Linda, Tom Vanessa, and Wayne Kimberly Marple. Loving stepmother of Bonnie Sebring and Jacklynn Joyce Marple. Devoted grandmother of Jason, Andrew, Scott, Hunter & Owen. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday 9:30 to 11 AM in St. Paul?s United Methodist Church of Thorofare, 74 Church Street, Thorofare. Memorial Service 11 AM.
