Obituary of George Washington Peters

PETERS, George Washington ?Pete? of National Park. On , December 16, 2005. Aged 74 years. Born and raised in National Park, Pete was a US Navy Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Cabot. He was an alumni of Woodbury High School and a former member of the National Park Bears Football team. Mr. Peters worked as a salesman at Berglund Ford in Camden and later Ace Motors in Woodbury. After retirement from auto sales, Pete worked for Radar Security in Mantua and finally for Home Depot as a millwork salesman. Pete enjoyed membership with the National Park VFW Post 6884, and the Woodbury & North Wildwood Elks Lodges, Army Navy Garrison #52, the National Park VFW Post 6884. He was a charter member of the National Park River Rats, Served as a councilman in National Park and was a Board member of Gateway Regional Board of Education. Pete also played saxophone for the Garden State String band for many years. For the past 10 years Pete enjoyed spending winters in Key Largo. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman, sportsman and the originator of the Pete Keeper, as well as a master at the crossword puzzle. Pete will be remembered as an honest, hard working and loving man who will be missed by his family very much. Beloved husband of the late Catherine Patsy Devoted father of Denise Hunt Thomas and Patrice Thomasson Limey Jr.. Grandfather to Jillian and Erik Perrone, Kate, Billy, and Pete McCormick. Great grandfather to Alyssa and Kameron and loving companion to Karen Drake Known as the Special Uncle to the Barnes, Sholders and Reid Families. Viewing Wednesday, 6:30 to 9 PM and Thursday morning after 9:15 AM in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury. Funeral Service Thursday 10:15 AM in the Funeral Home. Interment Woodbury Memorial Park.
