Obituary of John A. Shedwick

SHEDWICK - John A., Jr. of Washington Twp. On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2005. Aged 88 years. Born in Philadelphia and formerly of Upper Darby, John graduated from the Wharton School of Business. He faithfully served his country while in the US Army and the Coast Guard. Prior to retirement in 1987, John worked as an accountant with CIGNA, Philadelphia for over 40 years. He was a long time member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Upper Darby, PA where he served as elder, trustee, teacher and superintendent of the Sunday School, treasurer, financial secretary and a member of Men?s Bible Class. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights he was a member of the Primetimers. John was also a member of the Hanby Masonic Lodge #676, Springfield, PA. John loved to travel and read especially about the Civil War. He is the beloved husband of the late Mae Shedwick, devoted father of The Reverend John W. Shedwick & his wife Dorothy Jean of Woodbury Heights, NJ and Beryl Hocker & her husband William of Baltimore, MD, loving grandfather of Christina Geltmacher and husband Todd of Marietta, PA, Lt. JG USN Bradford Shedwick & his wife Elizabeth of Middle River, MD and Elizabeth Hocker of Baltimore, MD, great grandfather of Hayden Shedwick & Lauren Geltmacher, dear uncle to Carol Vandervoort of Northeast, MD. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Sat. 9-10:45 AM at The First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights, 4th Street and Elm Ave., Woodbury Heights, NJ . Funeral service 11 AM. Interment at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA will follow the funeral luncheon.
