Obituary of Ronald S. Marks

Ronald S. Marks, Sr., 68, former Mayor of Deptford Twp. on February 10, 2006. Beloved husband of Robin G. Marks. Father of Ronald S., Marks Jr. Lori; David Leonard Marks; David Ronald Marks Cheryl and Eric Craig Marks. Brother of Leonard Marks. Grandfather of Jessica and Nicholas Marks. Ron was born in Camden and moved to Deptford in the early 1960s. His outgoing personality allowed him to open the Ron Marks Insurance Agency in Deptford. He soon became interested in politics and was on the township council from 1969-1984. Ron was elected mayor from 1976-1981. Ron was instrumental in starting Deptford Day, the Deptford Balloon and finding the present site of the Johnson Library. He?ll always be remembered for his love of family, Deptford Twp., music, boating and the Chesapeake. A viewing will be held from 5:30-8:30 PM Friday, February 17th in the McGuinness Funeral Home 34 Hunter St. Woodbury. A Lifetime Tribute service will be held at 8:00 PM Friday in the funeral home. Relatives & friends will gather at 9:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home to process to St. Joseph's Church. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Saturday in St. Joseph?s RC Church 10th & Mechanic St. Camden. Interment St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
