Obituary of Catherine H. Deiss

DEISS, Catherine H. nee Hollis, 80, of Sewell NJ and formally of King of Prussia, PA, died on February 14, 2006. Beloved wife of the late William Deiss, devoted daughter of the late William and Helen Hollis, loving sister of Anna Ashcroft, Dorothy Lombardi, the late Helen Gambale and the late William R. Hollis, Jr. Catherine was also a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews who will also miss her dearly. She was a life long and faithful member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia where she served as Treasurer and Elder for many years. In September 1949, Catherine began her career at The Philadelphia Evening Bulletin. In April 1975 she was appointed Corporate Secretary on the executive board of the newspaper and remained in that position until the sale of the Bulletin in April 1980. After the sale of the Bulletin Company in April 1980, Catherine continued on with Independent Publications, Inc. until her retirement in May 1990. Her 41 year career was an inspiration to her many nieces and she was a women truly ahead of her time.
