Obituary of Frank Charles Schmitt

SCHMITT, Frank C., Sr. of Washington Twp. passed on March 26, 2006. Aged 85 years. Born and raised in Drexel Hill, Frank resided with his family in Deptford Twp. for over 30 years before moving to Washington Twp. in 1986. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines during World War II. Frank graduated from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, where he was active in the Alumni Association. Before retiring in 1981, Frank was a Draftsman and Welder for General Electric in Philadelphia for 40 years. For many years, he was very active at Most Holy Redeemer RC Church, volunteering at various times as an usher, a Bingo organizer, and a bus driver. In the late 1960?s and early 1970?s, Frank was active in Deptford Twp., serving as Chairman of the Board of Health as well as on the Township Council. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed watching the Phillies, building cabinetry projects and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his strong devotion to his family and his faith. Beloved husband of the late Grace M. Nee Murphy. Devoted father of Patricia Gary Chaney of Cape May, Frank C. Jill Schmitt, Jr. of Gainesville, FL, and Donna Joseph Pantalone of Washington Twp. Loving grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 2. Dear brother of the late Ignatius Schmitt and Rita Thomas.
