Obituary of Edward J. Harvey

Harvey, Edward Joseph, born September 27, 1921 of Pitman, NJ to Joseph Coleman Harvey and Edith May Peattie Harvey, died April 9, 2006 in Connelly Springs, NC after several years of declining health. Mr. Harvey graduated from Woodbury High School in 1940 and entered the Air National Guard. He later joined the US Army Air Corps 132 Squadron from 1941-1945, serving in South America and Hamilton Air Field, California. On December 5, 1944, Edward Harvey married Marjorie J. Howey and they resided in Westville, NJ for 30 years. Mr. Harvey worked after the war as a Prudential Insurance agent for a short time. Then for 35 years, he worked for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, in many capacities, as a switchman, lineman and installer. He was on the Bell Telephone Credit Union Board of Directions for a number of years. He was active in the Lions Club of Westville for 14 years and was a past president. He coached Little League and worked in the Indian Guides. He was an avid boater and traveled along the inland waterway between the Chesapeake and the Delaware rivers in his cabin cruiser, the Margo. After retirement, the Harveys moved to Palm Bay, Florida, and lived there for 16 years. He was a past president of Palm Bay estate where they resided. In 2000, the Harveys moved to Hickory, North Carolina, to live near their youngest daughter and her husband. Mr. Harvey is predeceased by his parents and wife. Survivors include his two daughters, Marjorie Kinney and her husband, Sumner of Thomaston, Maine, Nancy Lisk and her husband, Charles, of Vale, NC and a son, Robert Harvey and his wife Donna, of Brigantine, NJ. Edward has nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass Sat. April 22 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne?s RC Church, Westville.
