LICKFIELD?Elmer Gilbert?NJ State Trooper, Ret?d?affectionately known as Gil or Sarge, formerly of Moorestown, Maple Shade, West Deptford & Westville, On April 26, 2006. Aged 84 years.?A man who lived and served with ?Honor, Duty and Fidelity?. Gil was born in Philadelphia and was a 1941 graduate of Moorestown High School. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII where he served on the Lexington in the Pacific with Air-Troop 16. A member of the 33rd class, badge #887, Gil retired as Sgt. 1st class from the New Jersey State Police with over 25 years of dedicated service at various stations throughout the state. Following retirement, he worked as safety director for Cornell. He was a member of F&AM Florence Lodge, #87, Woodbury. In his spare time Gil enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and enjoying life. He is the beloved father of Suzanne Briggs & her husband Robert and Cynthia Hoog & her husband Stephen, loving brother of William, Ruth Short, Elaine Kaufholz, Katherine, and the late Edwin ?Ep?, Rose Anderson, Eileen, and Jack, loving grandfather of Jessica, Jason, Sophia & Christopher and great grandfather of Tyler, Kyle & Colby. Viewing Mon 9:30 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury where Masonic Services will be held at 10:45 and Funeral Services at 11 AM. Final prayers Harleigh Cemetery, Camden. Interment of his urn will be held at the convenience of the family in the NJ State Police Museum Memorial Garden, Trenton.
