Uncle Bill will always have a special place in my heart. He was always there for my mom when she was ill and never turned down an opportunity to help someone. I will always remember Christmas Eve's at Uncle Bill and Aunt Carol's.

I met the Shourds family through their daughter in law Crystal, and from the moment I met Bill, he made me feel as if I was a part of their family. I am truly going to miss hime as if he were my own family.

I've known my cousin Bill since my childhood. He was more like an uncle to me than a cousin. One of my earliest memories I recall is when I was about 6-7 years old I'm guessing, when he was dating cousin Carol, & He was feeding "Tinker" Carol's dog , & couldn't get the solid mass of the food to slide out of the can, so he flipped the can over, popped a hole in the opposite end of the can, put his mouth on it & blew! Well, being a small child I was instantly repulsed & saying "ewwwwwwwww"!! But, at the same time I was completely in awe of his ingenuity. I've never lost that sense of awe over him, & never will. I will miss him with all of my heart.
Love Ya Cuz,
Lin

When I think of what a "Best Freind" is, I can't help but think of Bill. It didn't matter what the need Bill would be there by your side helping. When Allison had surgery, there was Bill at the hospital. When Beth was in the hospital, and we didn't know who to talk to, Bill called us.
I am so sorry that I could not be there in person for his tribute, but be assurred that I was there in spirit. Beth read me what she planned on sharing, and I hope you felt the meaning behind her thoughts.
Bill truly was a part of our family. A Uncle to Beth and Allison. And a Brother to Debbie and I.
I will be there for you as you need. Do not hesitate to call at ANY time.
We will miss Bill, but we will never forget him.
With Love,
Dan, Debbie, Beth & Allison

When I first met Billy & Carol, I was taken right away by their warm and loving welcome to their Labor day party. I escorted my wife, Linda Humes to the party.
After making the rounds meeting the family and enjoying the spectacular festivities, Billy pulls me aside, and says he needed a word with me.
The smile never left his face as he looks me over.
"I see you and Linda are pretty serious", Bill asked me.
"She took my heart from the moment I laid eyes upon her", I hesitantly replied.
"So", Billy continued, "Just what are your intentions toward Linda?"
I was a bit surprised by the interagation, but I managed to answer, "I Plan to Love her and give her everything she deserves. Her happiness is what keeps me going."
Bill spent a moment pondering my words and the sincerity of them, looked up at me, grabs my hand, and smiling, says, "Welcome to the family, Son. I think you mean it, and if I find out you don't, you'll have me to contend with!"
I must admit, I was not expecting this conversation, but after getting to know Bill, I see that he wants his family happy and well cared for.
On the way home after the services, I made mention of this story to Linda and her brother Ed. Ed told me that he & Jack had left that little talk to the "Tough Guy" in the family. They wanted to see how well I faired against the best the family had to offer!
Once I had Billy's seal of approval, that was all that Jack and Ed needed to hear.
Bill, You will be missed dearly.

Being a part of the power group at Dupont with Billy is something that I'll always cherish. His kindness and "GREAT" sense of humor kept all of us in great spirit. He and Dan and Chip are the closest thing I'll ever have to brothers. I'll miss you Bill.
