Alfred J. Formanek, Sr. of Woodbury on June 10, 2006. Aged 83 years. Al was a proud member of the Greatest Generation. He was a tail gunner in the US Army Air-Corps. Al fought in D-Day and later in the war, his plane was shot down and Al was captured by the Germans. He endured five months as a prisoner of war. He was a member of the Amvets and the Disabled American Veterans. Al worked as a sheet metal worker for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and also as a teacher at Gloucester Catholic High and the Gloucester County Vocational School. He enjoyed fishing off of Wildwood in his boat, the ?Big Al?. Beloved husband of Frances P. nee Jaconski. Devoted father of Alfred J., Jr., Deborah Duke, Cathy Rosiak and Jeffrey Formanek. Grandfather of 9. Brother of Marion Missimer, Joan Gretkowski and Lorraine Woerner. Viewing Wednesday eve from 6:30-9:00 PM and Thursday 8:30-9:30 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Thursday in St. Patrick RC Church, Woodbury.
