Obituary of James G. Kennedy

KENNEDY?James G., Sr., Aged 83 of National Park on Aug. 28, 2006 surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Abington, PA and was a proud US Army and Navy Veteran, serving during WWII. He was a survivor of the sinking of the USS Beatty #640 during battle. Jim donated the lifejacket and uniform worn during that battle and is on display at the USS New Jersey memorial, Camden. He also had the privilege of serving as a member of the honor guard at President Roosevelt?s funeral. Prior to retirement in 1971, he worked as a letter carrier for the US Post Office serving East Camden for 24 years. Jim also served as a building supervisor for Phillip Zinman Realty in Camden for many years. Jim was a 3rd degree member of the KOC in East Camden and a member of the VFW Post #3620, Gloucester City. In his spare time, you could find him creatively working with his hands in his shop, donating his time working with the children of the Soap Box Derby, going fishing, crabbing or just spending time with his family. Jim will be remembered as hardworking, family man who enjoyed making other people laugh. He is the beloved husband of 62 years to Anne M. nee McGee, devoted father of James G., Jr. Nancy and Anne K. Borreggine, dear brother of David and Charles Kennedy, Jeannette Stokes and the late Louis, loving grandfather of Nicholas and Deanna Borreggine and great grandfather of Micaela. Viewing Fri. 6:30-9 PM and Sat. 8:30-9:15 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Funeral Mass Sat. 10 AM in St. Matthew RC Church, National Park.
