Obituary of John W. Powell

John W. Powell, Sr., of Townsend, Del. formerly of National Park and Thorofare, on Jan. 16, 2007. Aged 79 years. John was a proud U.S. Merchant Marine veteran. Prior to retirement, he worked as a rigger for DuPont for many years before owning Powco, a fuel oil company in National Park. John was a member of the F&AM Paulsboro. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing a good game of golf. Beloved husband of the late Marie C. nee Winters, devoted father of June Zito, Marie Powell, Elizabeth Steilberg, John Jr., Patrick and the late Nancy White. Dear brother of George, James and Patrick. Loving grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of three. Viewing Friday 11 a.m. and funeral services noon Friday in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
