Obituary of Bernard A. Dunne

Bernard A. Dunne, Sr., 90, of Pitman, NJ on January 31, 2007. Beloved husband of Rita F. nee Schleigh. Father of Bernard A. ?Bernie? Dunne, Jr. and Mary T. Dunne. Bernie Dunne was born in Buffalo, NY on February 9, 1916. He received a Chemistry degree from St. Bonaventure University. When World War II began, he joined the Army Air Corps. He trained navigators in Coral Gables, FL and later helped to develop rocket fuel in Cleveland. After the war he returned to New York and went to work for Mobil Oil. He also worked on his Masters degree and earned that in 1948 from St. Bonaventure. In 1949, he met Rita Schleigh and in April of 1950, they were married. When the refinery in Olean, NY closed, Bernie moved to California to work at the Mobil Refinery in Torrance. A year later, he was transferred to the Paulsboro Research facility. He worked there until 1981, specializing in technical training. His work took him to England, Germany and Japan and many other locations. Bernie was an active man who enjoyed tennis and golf & also reading and music. Until November he was still riding his stationary bicycle five miles a day. He?ll be forever remembered as the true gentleman that he was. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
