Obituary of David E. Miller

MILLER?David E., Jr. a 42 year resident of Washington Twp., on May 13, 2007. Aged 80 years. David was an American History aficionado with a masterful knowledge of the Civil War. He would travel with his family to various National Parks and sites throughout the US that were rich in the history he highly valued. David enjoyed a good game of golf, spending time with friends on a bowling league and loved to get lost in a good book. He will be remembered as a fun and outgoing man who was always the life of the party. David was a member of the US Naval Reserve and a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. Prior to retirement in 1985, he worked as a machinist supervisor for Atlantic Richfield Co., Philadelphia for 38 years. David was a longtime, devout member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pitman where he served as a deacon and elder. He enjoyed his membership with the F&AM #529, St. Albans Lodge, Philadelphia; the VFW Post #7927, Blackwood and spending time with friends at the Philadelphia Naval Base Officer?s Club. Celebrating New Years in Philadelphia with the Mummer?s Parade was always an event his whole family looked forward to. He is the beloved husband of 54 years to Patricia A. nee McGlade; devoted father of Karen Ferris Henry and Nancy Randazzo Frank; loving grandfather of Henry, Frank, Christina, Amelia and David. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation 5-6:45 PM and Funeral Service 7 PM on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 305 S. Broadway, Pitman. Cremation services and dispersal of his cremated remains will be held privately at sea, as per David?s wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 915 Haddon Ave., Camden, NJ 08103 or to Shriner?s Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
