Obituary of Arlene T. Collard

COLLARD?Arlene T. nee Tschinkel, 62 of Riverton, formerly of Washington Township. She was relieved of her earthly duties and taken home to heaven on June 5, 2007, while surrounded by her loving family. Arlene was a woman who battled life?s trials and hardships while faithfully serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and who lovingly served her family, friends and students. Arlene was born in Queens, NY and raised in Fairlawn, NJ by her parents Frederick and Margaret Tschinkel. Following graduation from Fairlawn High School in 1962, she attended Glassboro State College, now Rowan University where she obtained her bachelors degree in education. For over 35 years, Arlene served students in schools in Gloucester and Salem Counties including Ambassador Christian Academy and Gloucester County Institute of Technology. In the 1970?s, she successfully ran Woodland School in Washington Township which served as a preschool for area toddlers. Arlene met her husband, Robert while attending GSC and they married following graduation in 1966. Both committed to students, her husband served as an administrator of Rowan University were he last worked as Associate Vice President of Administration and Finance, until his death in May of 1997. Arlene was a devout and long time member of Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church while living in Washington Township. In February of 2006, Arlene moved with her daughter Meredith to Riverton to be near her other daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Carl and her precious new grand-daughter Taylor. It was there that she served at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Riverton. Arlene fought a courageous battle against Lymphoma in 1993. Diagnosed with a rare endometrial cancer in 2004, she continued her faithful life on this Earth. She will be greatly missed and long remembered. She is the beloved wife of the late Robert L.; devoted mother of Meredith L. Collard and Jennifer N. Krott & her husband Carl; loving grandmother of Taylor Nicole; dear sister of the late Charles Tschinkel. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Fri. 6:30-9 PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Rd., Washington Twp. Sewell and on Sat. 9-9:45 AM with funeral services at 10 AM in Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church, 330 Greentree Rd., Washington Twp. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park, Washington Twp.
