Obituary of Nicholas Wanzung

Wanzung, Nicholas, 76 of West Deptford passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on June 14, 2007. Nick will be remembered for his quiet, gentle strength and sly sense of humor. He was raised in Williamstown and enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his service, Nick earned the Army Occupation Medal, the Japan-Korea Service Medal, UN Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge, Nick returned home and took a job with N.J. Bell Telephone company as a telephone switchman. At the same time he met and married the love of his life, Mary Jane who he would share the next 47 years with until her death in 2001. Nick was a long time member of Green Fields Fire Department in West Deptford. After Mary's death, Nick joined H.O.P.E. and during his membership, enrolled in classes to become a counselor and ultimately became a regional member of the group. Nick is the beloved husband to the late Mary Jane. Loving father of Wendy Morrell and her husband Jerry. Devoted grandfather of Jason. A memorial service celebrating Nick's life will be held, Friday evening at 7:30 PM in the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights, 335 Elm Avenue, Woodbury Heights; where freinds and reletives may call after 7PM. Cremation services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
