GROPPENBACHER-Margaret M. of National Park, on June 26, 2007. Aged 66 years. Daughter of the late Joseph C. and Margaret Groppenbacher. Survived by her brother Joseph P. Groppenbacher. "There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is." ~William P. Merrill Margaret's passion for music was a thread woven throughout her fabric of life; she was an accomplished pianist and talented educator. Margaret graduated from the Cape Charles High School on the Eastern Shore of Virgin a in 1957. Piano was a way of life for her since the age of 5, but she was also accomplished in 14 other musical instruments. Margaret was the recipient of the George Bland Memorial Award for her performance on the piano in 1957 on the Delmarva Peninsula. In 1958, she was honored to play to a crowd of one thousand people gathered at Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, as a student representative of Georgian Court College, where she graduated in 1961 with honors, earning a B.A. degree. In 1962, she graduated from Catholic University with a M.A. degree, prepar­ing her for a career in teaching. In recent years, Margaret taught music for a brief time in the Washington D.C. area and also locally and throughout the Deptford School System.
