Obituary of Harley S. Reeder

REEDER?Harley S. age 78 of Democrat Rd., Mickleton, NJ, formerly of Montoursville, PA, where he was born on March 26, 1929, died on September 15, 2007. He was predeceased on July 8, 2002 by his loving wife, the former Muriel J. King and his brothers J. Harris, V. Dale. He was the son of the former Foster A. and Florence Updegraph Reeder. He is survived by a brother, James F. of Montoursville, PA; the loving father of his daughter Karen R. Humhries and husband Rick of Collingswood, NJ, his son Harley B. Reeder and wife JoAnn of Woodbury Heights, NJ, his son David A. Reeder and his wife Mary Rose Of Somerdale, NJ; six grandchildren: David, Alex, Alysia, Breanna, Benjamin and Carissa, a stepson, Stanley Stewart of Westville, NJ and a grand niece, Courtney R. Paleschic of Mickleton, NJ Mr. Reeder graduated from Montoursville High School in 1947, served overseas in the US Army in the Korean War from 1951-1953 where he received a Letter Of Commendation from his commanding officer. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering in 1957. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was a former member of the Society of American Military Engineers and a former Director of the American Society of Highway Engineers. He was a superintendent of the former Lycoming Construction Company of Williamsport, PA, working on construction of sections of the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike in 1955, I-81 in 1958-60, the Baltimore Beltway in 1961 and I-80 in 1962-66. He was Senior Vice President of American Dredging Company of Camden, NJ where he worked for 27 years until 1993. He retired from Weeks Marine, Inc. of Camden, NJ in 1994. He was a member of the Clonmell United Methodist Church in Gibbstown, NJ, where he served on various committees; past coordinator of the Acolyte program and attended many Bible study classes. He enjoyed his family, woodworking, gardening, reading and fishing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing 9:30 AM and funeral services 11 AM Wednesday in the Clonmell United Methodist Church, 516 W. Broad St., Gibbstown, NJ.
