Obituary of Daniel J. McCollum

McCollum?Daniel J. of Turnersville on Sept. 23, 2007. Aged 84 years. Dan was a strong man of faith; who was devoted to his family, active in his community and very proud of his service to our country. Dan was born in Bluefield, WV. He enlisted in the US Army Air-Corps and served in the Flying Tigers of 14th Air Force. Dan was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as other medals awarded him during his service in WWII. He was the Vice President of the 14th Air Force Assn and member of both the Haddon Heights and Washington Twp. VFW. Prior to retirement, Dan was employed by Mobil Oil Research & Development, Paulsboro for 43 years. He served as past President of the Commercial Photographers of the Delaware Valley and also was a council member of the Professional Industrial Photographers of America. His love of photography was a also a passion for him outside of his work life. Dan was a devout member of the Presbyterian Churches of Haddonfield and Grenloch, where he served as a deacon and also as an elder. He was also the past President of the Haddon-Glen Swim Club and a charter member of the Barrington Boys Club. He is the beloved husband of 61 years to Louise nee Baum; devoted father of Daniel J. Jeannine, Debbie Pollitt Ed, Leslie Rick, Jeffrey W. and Peter S. Angela; dear brother of Shirley Swiecicki; loving grandfather of Kristina, Daniel, Edward, Michael, Hailey and the late Jennifer; great-grandfather of Joey, Danielle and Cody and great-great grandfather of Kailee. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation 9-10:45 AM and Memorial Service 11 AM Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church of Grenloch, 500 Eastview Ave., Grenloch, NJ 08032. Entombment of Urn with Military Honors in the Gloucester Co. Veteran?s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church at the above address.
