Obituary of Edward J. Rowan

Rowan, Edward J. ?Rip?, Sr., of Wenonah, NJ, passed away on September 30, 2007; Aged 71 years. Though Rip was a quiet man those who loved him knew where he stood. He took pride in his ability to make a good life for his beloved late wife, Joan and his family. He cherished his yearly visits to Las Vegas with Joan. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles on TV; if he wasn?t watching them, he was listening to them on the radio. Not only did he like the national teams, but he also enjoyed going to the high school Friday night football or basketball games with his life long pal, Art. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Rip was a longtime resident of Oak Valley and parishioner of St. Margaret?s RC Church. He also coached the midget football team, Oak Valley Vikings. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 ?1958 and went on to serve in the Air Force Reserves. Prior to his retirement in 1994, Rip was employed with the Continental/Midlantic Bank in Fort Washington, PA since 1970. Beloved Husband of the late Joan D. nee Bennett; Devoted Father of Edward J. Rowan, Jr. Tina, John J. Rowan Marissa and Terri Bergin Joseph; Dear Brother James, Michael and Phillip; Loving Grandfather of Erin, John, Kevin, Christian, Jillian and Andrew. Viewing on Thursday, 8?9 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ. Mass on Thursday 10 AM at St. Margaret?s RC Church, 4th and Beech Street, Woodbury Heights, NJ. Interment will follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Blvd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
