Obituary of Brenda Marie Davis

Brenda Marie Davis nee Roper was born on March 1, 1941, in Manhattan, New York, to the late Morris Roper and Cora Bell Chandler Roper. At an early age, she moved with her family to Philadelphia. Brenda was educated in the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from Edward Bok High School. While at Bok, she studied Cosmetology, and after graduation she continued in this field as a Licensed Beautician. This profession lead her to work in her Father?s business; De Paree? Beauty Shops and Products, where she was a beautician, and a model for his products. While attending Bok, Brenda met Edward Davis, who she later married. They had two children Gregory and Yvette. In the 70?s Brenda changed her career path and enrolled in the Mandle School of Medical Assistants as well as attended New York Community College for a course in Hematology. This led to her work as a Clinical Laboratory Technician and a Medical Technician, until the early eighties. During and after this time, she continued to work off and on as a Beautician, until she became disabled. Brenda was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She loved her family and friends, and always attempted to keep in touch by calling them or sending them greeting cards and notes. Her heart was big. She gave whatever and whenever she could to several charities. Brenda loved to shop and was very fashion conscious. She always wore well coordinated, matching outfits. She even coordinated all of her house garments/robes and slippers. Brenda was an ?A? number one cook. Her family and friends loved her cooking. Especially her famous, delicious potato salad and macaroni and cheese. Brenda always had a fondness for animals, especially cats, and for most of her adult life, she has had the companionship of a pet cat. Everyone that knew her, knew how she lovingly cared for her animals, especially her current pet ?Puffy.? You could not tell her that Puffy didn?t call her ?Mom.? Brenda was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. She professed a strong faith in God and constantly read her daily devotions, prayer cards, etc. She also prayed for her family members on a consistent basis and confided that she would even pray for their pets. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Edward Davis; her children, Gregory and Yvette; her son-in-law, Al; her daughter-in-law, Theresa; her grandchildren, Shakiya, Everett, Jaleesa, Austin and Corey; her sisters, Ann and Delores; her brother, Morris, her Uncles Herman, Eugene and Howard; her Aunts, Jannie, Naomi, Viola and Bessie; her Niece Arlice, her Nephews Alphonso, Anthony and Terry? and a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.
