George Stoyko

Obituary of George Stoyko

George Stoyko with his family by his side passed away peacefully at Jefferson University Hospital on January 28, 2008, age 84. George was born in the family farmhouse in Deptford and lived in the area all of his life. He was the husband of the late Edith M. Stoyko nee Shisler and is survived by their children, Edith Bory of Woodbury, Joseph Lemeshuk of Somerdale, Deborah Stoyko-Ball of Woodbury. George's life was enriched by the love and care provided him by Daniel J. Ball, son-in-law; and Jim LaCava, whom he thought of as a son. Also survived by his sisters, Claire Hothem, Park Ridge and Anna Ciarlante, Vineland, and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him as "Uncle Ange." George worked hard all of his life. As a young man he worked on the family farm, at Evans Dairy Farm, and as a secretary at Mobil Refinery. Later he was always self-employed, operating a successful livestock farm in Deptford with his late brother Bill Stoyko for many years. His good humor will be sadly missed not only by his family but also by his buddies at Ray Steins garage, where he enjoyed spending his days of late, and by Elva Stoyko. Those who knew George will remember him as a dog lover, and will have heard many stories about his beloved yellow lab, Rosie, who gave him much joy in his final years.
