Murphy, James "Jim" J., of Woodstown, NJ; formerly of Westville, on February 3, 2008. Aged 82 years. Jim was a quiet man who never stood in judgment of anybody. He was a great listener and always kept an open mind. In his spare time he enjoyed, listening to baseball, especially the Phillies and also played golf. Jim will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his famous one liners...sometimes even one worders. Born in Philadelphia, Jim served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and after his time in the military, he had a successful business with his brother at Murphy Brothers in Blackwood, Sinclair Station in Westville and also J & J Fuel company. Prior to retiring in 1988, Jim was employed with Deptford Township Board of Education for 20 years. Loving Companion of Virginia I. Conley; Devoted Father of James, Joyce Dan Kiner, Carol Bill Lawlor, Patricia Scott Brown and also survived by Karen Eric Hendrickson and Lisa Wade Freeman; Loving Grandfather of many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; Dear Brother of Joseph, Lillian Moore and the late Edward and Margaret. Viewing on Wednesday, 12:30—2:00 PM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ where a service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place privately.
