Obituary of Walter Robert Vickery

Walter Robert Vickery, 81, of West Deptford died at home on March 12, 2008. Walt Vickery was a proud, caring family man. If he was with his family and outside, Walt was happy. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, times at Cape May - anywhere there was family and fun. Walt was born in Philadelphia, met his wife Mary there and they were married August 31, 1957. He was a member of the Greatest Generation - serving in the Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Walt worked as a Seaman for the Seafarers International Union of Philadelphia. It was a wonderful way to earn a living, outside and on the water. Walt is survived by his wife, Mary nee Fox, six children, William Vickery Tina; Roseann Vickery Joe Maggelet; Scott Vickery; Diann Cheeseman Phil ; Walter Vickery Linda and Bruce Vickery Marianne. Grandfather of Kristi Hamilton; Lindsay Vickery; Ryan Vickery; Bruce Vickery, Jr.; Walt Vickery, III and Nicholas Cheeseman. Family and friends will gather from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday in the McGuinness Funeral Home 34 Hunter St. Woodbury. A Lifetime Celebration Service will begin at 3:00 PM.
