Obituary of Ernest G. Causton

CAUSTON—Ernest G. of Williamstown on March 23, 2008. Aged 84 years. A quiet and humble man, Ernie was strongly devoted to his family. Born in Colonial Manor, Ernie was a long time resident of Woodbury before moving to Williamstown in 1986. After graduation in 1942 from Paulsboro High, he was drafted into the US Army where he served during WWII and was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal. Prior to retirement, Ernie was employed by the US Department of Defense as a purchaser and estimator at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 38 years. Sports have always held a special place in Ernie's heart. He actively played on many teams in High School, Boxed while in the service and attended almost every football game that Paulsboro played. Of course, he also enjoyed cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles. Ernie was a proud member of the Williamstown VFW Post #1616, the Colonial Manor American Legion Post #100, Deptford and past president of the Westville Lions Club. He is the beloved husband of 64 years to Martha O. nee Sterner; devoted father of Kathy Austin Jack and Marsha Causton Fiancé, Kevin Doyle; loving grandfather of Andrea Austin fiancé, Mark Alibrando, John Austin, Jeffrey and Victoria Jones; dear brother of Mildred Chambers, Adelaid Gabriel and the late Albert, Edward, Joseph, Dorothy, Anna and Virginia. Viewing Wed. 6:30-9 PM and Thurs. 9-9:45 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, where funeral services will be held Thurs. 10 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: VITAS Hospice, 521 Fellowship Rd., #110, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
