Obituary of Donato M. Schiraldi

Schiraldi, Donato "Dan" M., Sr. of Woodbury Heights, passed away on April 16, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, age 77 years. Dan was a loving man who was dedicated to his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed bowling with the seniors, fishing and crabbing, playing pinochle with the guys and tending to his vegetable garden. Dan also took part in the finer things in life and frequented the theater, fine dining and listening to classical music. Dan graduated from Camden Catholic HS in 1949. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean conflict and served from 1951-1955. Prior to retiring in 1998, Dan was the owner of The Bread Basket in Wenonah, NJ for 25 years and was known for his award winning pepperoni bread. He was a man of great faith and was a long time member of St. Margaret's RC Church in Woodbury Heights, where he served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dan was also a member of the PACC Club, past president of the St. Margaret's Senior Citizen Club and past VP of Oak Valley Senior's Club. He was very proud of his involvement with the Men of Malvern and participated in their retreats for the 34 years. Dan also volunteered with Serve-A-Tray and devoted his time as a Eucharistic Minister. Beloved husband of 55 years to Helen Budka; Devoted Father of Thomas Joseph Genovia, Donato Michael, Jr. Jeanette, Nicholas Diana, Camille P. Scott Gaffri, Ann H. Timothy Darnall; Loving grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 1; Dear brother of Dolores Torisi and dear nephew of Mary Giuliano. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, 9:00—10:45 AM at St. Margaret's RC Church, Third and Beech Streets, Woodbury Heights, NJ where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Men of Malvern, 315 S.
