Obituary of Winston S. Waring
Winston S. Waring, of Turnersville, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 12, 2018. He was 87.
Legacy
Winston Shaeffer Waring was born July 1st 1930 in Ballston Spa, NY. He was the fourth of five children and grew up on a farm. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the USAF serving during the Korean war as a crew chief. Upon discharge, he worked as a civilian flight line mechanic at McGuire AFB for 27 years, before retiring as a supervisor. In 1974 he married the love of his life Judy Gregory, also becoming the loving and devoted stepfather of Holly and Karen Gregory. Years later he became the proud and adoring Grampie of Lee Washington, Marisa and Chuck Sola. Judy and Win remained happily married for 43+ years. Winnie was the epitome of a gentleman and the kindest of men. He was the neighborhood ambassador in “the Square.”He greeted everybody by name and had a big smile, joke and cheerful conversation for anyone who was lucky enough to cross his path. Win was a huge local sports fan, but especially loved the Phillies, even winning the Philly Phanatic’s ATV at Fan Appreciation Day. Win was a history aficionado, especially of WWII, having been named after Winston Churchill. He enjoyed traveling, camping, sailing and doing yard work. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family and his beloved Judy. Win also leaves many, many friends who will miss him dearly.
Family
He is the beloved husband of 43 years to Judith (nee Conk/Gregory); devoted step-father of Holly and Karen Gregory; beloved grandfather of Lee Washington, Marisa and Chuck Sola; loving brother to Pat Kohn (the late Bill), Nancie Tyler (the late Gus), Joe Waring (Barbara), and the late Douglass Waring (the late Gretchen and Nancy); brother-in-law to Robert Conk (Maria); special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Win's visitation on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 9 - 11 AM in the McGuinnes Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road. A Time of Remembrance will follow.
