Obituary of George F Schreyer

George F Schreyer, of Barrington, Rhode Island, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was 80.

Legacy

George was born in Camden, NJ. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. George also graduated from Glassboro State (Rowan) University with a Bachelor's Degree and a Masters degree. He spent his career in Education, as a NJ certified teacher and school counselor. He was passionate about good solid education for the youth of his community and spent 40 years in the Greenwich Twp. School District as a Teacher and Guidance Counselor.

Away from work, George enjoyed cheering on his children as they grew up playing sports and was an avid Philadelphia Sports fan through the great and not so great seasons. He worked as an umpire for youth softball, and men's softball and baseball. He worked games from youth leagues all the way through high school and some Division III College games. George enjoyed sailing and served as Commodore of the Lavallette Yacht Club where his family were active members for many years in Lavallette, NJ.

George will be fondly remembered as an authentic, outgoing man who loved his community and being involved wherever he could benefit others. George will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved this wonderful man.

Family

George is the beloved husband of the late Roberta L. (née Gough); loving father of Meredith (nee Schreyer) Collins and Stanley Schreyer; cherished grandfather of Owen Collins, Sean Collins and Arden Schreyer; dear brother of Diane Schreyer. Father in law to Peter Collins.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation at 9:00AM, Friday, April 28, 2023 in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ. Service will follow at 10 AM.
