BRIDGET (FLYNN) NESKO, BSN, RN

On November 28, 2022, we lost the beautiful and sensitive soul of Bridget (Flynn) Nesko BSN, RN, who passed away too soon from the ravages of Ovarian Cancer at the tender age of 55.

An accomplished Registered Nurse, Publisher, Broadcaster, Voice-Over Artist, Educator, Community Activist, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Cousin and Friend, Bridget leaves behind her broken-hearted husband, friend and soulmate of 27 years Kevin Nesko, her son, Robert (Dianna) Nesko, two wonderful grandchildren Conner and Arya Nesko, her father Edward Flynn, brother Michael Flynn, sisters Donna (Finchen) and Geraldine “Gerry” (James) Austin. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and other relatives, as well as countless friends. She was pre-deceased by her mother Margaret (Weston) Flynn, brother Edward Flynn and sister Margaret (Meditz).

Born in Philadelphia, Bridget graduated from Ascension of Our Lord Elementary School and Little Flower High School. She earned her BSN RN degree and licensure (in Virginia and New Jersey) from George Mason University School of Nursing in Fairfax, Virginia, and worked in Heart and Lung Transplant with Inova Fairfax Hospital Heart and Lung Institute. In healthcare, she also served as a Public Health Nurse with Fairfax County, and as a Nurse Educator in Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey, and as a member of the Clayton Borough Board of Health. Bridget also served briefly with US Army Phycological Operations, as an active member of the Bethesda – Chevy Chase Civil Air Patrol, as Commissioner of Resources and Policies and on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Nurses Association District Eight, and on the George Mason University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

As an expert on the 2010 Affordable Care Act, Bridget provided training and informational workshops to members of Congress, Congressional candidates, and their staff members throughout Virginia in 2010 and 2012.

In recent years, Bridget founded, published, edited, and promoted the Clayton Free Press and New Jersey Free Press monthly community newspapers, the New Jersey Insider magazine, and produced and co-hosted the “Taking Care of Business” radio broadcast, airing live monthly on station 92.1 FM WVLT in Vineland.

Bridget’s husband, family and friends have created the BRIDGET NESKO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION which will sponsor the Bridget Nesko Memorial Courage Award for students attending George Mason University’s School of Nursing, and the Bridget Nesko National Ovarian Cancer Memorial Scholarship.
