Legacy

79, passed away suddenly on October 17, 2021. Born in Philadelphia on August 3, 1942, Paul was a city kid and fondly recalled his old stomping ground in Manayunk and fishing and swimming in the Schuylkill River as a boy. Paul left the city when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960. His Army service took him around the world, including to Korea, where he met his wife Chong Soon (Lee). They married in 1963 and returned to Philadelphia in 1964.  Paul was a member of Sprinklerfitters Local Union 692 (Philadelphia) for 36 years until his retirement in 2000. Paul and his family lived in Willingboro, NJ for 19 years and have lived in Washington Township since 1988. Paul was an avid model train hobbyist and also enjoyed fishing, shooting, military history, books and movies.

Family

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth (nee Frank) Byers, his siblings, Charles, Ida, Emma, Diane, Louise and Walt. In addition to his devoted wife of 58 years, Paul is survived by his loving children Tayhon (Tina) Byers and Kim (Marc) Cifone, step-daughter Hye Rien, grandchildren Jack, Marc, Annalise and Troy, niece Soon Cha Oh and her family and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Farewell Tribute

Paul will be remembered in a private graveside service at the GloucesterCounty Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
