Daniel Tinney

Obituary of Daniel Heft Tinney

Daniel Heft Tinney, 76, of West Deptford, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Legacy

Born in Camden, New Jersey, Daniel was a lifelong resident of West Deptford Township.  He was a 1963 Paulsboro High School graduate and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17, where he proudly served during the Vietnam War.  He worked for the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard as a rigger and diver, shop 72.  Prior to retirement, Daniel was a GCIT certified NJ vocation instructor and was a 38 year employee of DuPont in Deepwater, NJ.  Daniel was very involved in many organizations such as, VFW Post 125 as a life member, American Legion Post 133, CGAUX retired, Loyal Order of Moose, Knights of Columbus as 3rd and 4th Degree and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

“Danny Boy”, as he was affectionately called, was a man with a huge heart, who loved hard and deeply.  If you were lucky enough to be in his heart, you were there forever.  He was disciplined, loving and devoted to his family.  His love for his wife, Krista knew no bounds; sailing with his wife on their sailboats for 25 years were cherished moments.  They did everything together including serving and retiring from the Coast Guard Auxiliary together.  His son, Bob was his horseshoe pitching partner.  Dan traveled to Ireland with his daughter Krissy and loved to hang out.  His son, Danny was his pal rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and MMA.

With his strong work ethic, Dan finished any project that he started.  His favorite being tending to his yard.  When buying their first home, the lot was more important than the house on the lot.  A wooded lot that he could tend to, nurture and spend time outdoors raking the leaves was a good day for Dan.

Family

Beloved husband of 58 years to Krista (nee Williams); devoted father of Kenneth Robert (Lisa) Tinney, Krista L. (Brian J.) Bloomquist and Daniel Edward Tinney; cherished grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 10; dear brother of Sandra L. (Herb) Hingley and the late James and his wife, Janice.  Dan considered all of his dogs and Harvey, their parrot, part of their family.
